Danone Research– Centre for Specialised Nutrition is a life sciences innovation centre for the development of new product concepts for Baby Nutrition and Medical Nutrition. It creates formulas that provide clinically substantiated health benefits to vulnerable consumers– infants, young children, elderly and specific clinical patients. Danone has R&D facilities worldwide. The research programs for Danone Baby Nutrition address all aspects of early life; from maternal physiology during pregnancy and lactation, via composition and health benefits of human milk, to the influence of early nutrition on development of gut function and microbiota, immune system, brain and metabolism of the infant and young child. Danone develops products tailored to the specific dietary and nutritional needs of young children and for this reason have a dedicated work-stream which synthesises dietary intake and nutritional status data globally. The role of food based solutions in meeting vitamin D requirements is therefore consistent with Danone Research’s interests and current activity.
